Hair Grease or Hair Oil?

This topic can be very interesting. Some women think Hair Grease and Hair Oil are very similar and they both give relaxed and natural hair the same promising results. The Truth is both are totally different. Let me explain why, First off lets say people use both of these products for the same reasons, which is to keep their scalp from drying up and keeping it moisturized and healthy. But who says the actual ingredients in both give the same exact results?!? Lets separate the two and break down the differences to give us a better idea what are the pros and cons for both products.

Lets start with Hair Grease. Hair Grease can be very affordable but this product sometimes mostly contains petroleum best known as Mineral Oil . Some people like the idea of using a hair product that contains this ingredient but does not mean is good for your hair? Well lets see. Mineral Oil usually makes the hair too greasy and causes the scalp to have unnecessary product build up .If your scalp has a lot of product build up than mostly likely it can stop the hair growth process. When your scalp is clogged with dirt then its not allowing your hair to get the oxygen it needs to circulate blood flow which helps the hair to grow.To make the Long story short Mineral Oil is toxic when consume. Besides using it for hair petroleum is best known for providing protection for skin from windburn, chapping , relief to dry skin and lips.

Now lets talk about hair oil. Depending on the oil you purchase (Coconut, Jojoba, Castor, etc.....) Some are Heavy/Light oils. Usually the best oils are the ones that are UNREFINED, Which means NOT chemically processed. The more natural the oil is the better and healthier results you can get with your hair. Some hair oils that are used daily can also cause the scalp to get clogged from too much oil usage. I recommend using a light oil like Jojoba oil, Grapeseed oil or Almond oil every  day or every other day as a scalp massage. For heavy oils like Castor oil, Coconut oil or Olive Oil once a week or every hair wash day on a clean scalp. Light oils are best used for scalp massages and  for daily seal ins and Heavy oils are best used as a hot oil treatment and mixed with your regular deep conditioners. Some of these oils can be used for cooking oil (Extra virgin coconut oil and Olive oil). Besides using it for hair, you can also use some of these natural oils like Coconut Oil, Jojoba oil and Almond Oil for skin. Helps keep lips and face moisturized.  Purchasing these oils can be very expensive for some people but its definitely worth it.

Now that we broke up the differences between the two, which one would you prefer? Hair Grease? Or Hair Oil? I think I made it pretty obvious hair oil is the best choice when it comes to taking better care of your hair for the long term but than again what might work for some people might not work for you. Hope this article helped you guys have a better understanding the differences between Hair Grease and Hair Oil. Let Me know your opinions on what you think, and what works best for you!
